Another welcome to the blog

Hello out there!

My name is Tom Nicholas, and I’m the newest admission counselor at the University of Richmond, although I’ll lose that distinction officially on Monday as a new assistant director joins our staff. I just finished my second month on the job, and so far it’s been great. I’m really looking forward to visiting high schools and college fairs in the fall – my travel territory includes Delaware and my home state of Pennsylvania – and I’m excited to start the process of recruiting the UR Class of 2012!

First-year move-in day

Welcome First-Year Students!
The campus is alive again! Today is one of the busiest days on campus as Richmond prepares to welcome a new class. Beginning with many hours of preparation and setup yesterday, the campus was ready to greet over 800 new students bright and early this morning. First-year students flooded campus with cars, campers, U-Hauls, suitcases and knickknacks. And, in true Richmond fashion, faculty, staff and upperclassman were there to usher in each family with big smiles and lots of ready hands.

Welcome to UR’s admission blog

Hello Potential Spiders!

Hi, I’m Maria and I have one of the best jobs around—Assistant Director of Admission at the University of Richmond. Sure, things didn’t start off that way. Just like most of you, I grew up with a couple of potential jobs in mind, none of which happened to be admission officer at a top tier university. Honestly, I sort of stumbled into my first job in admission just before I graduated from college. At the time, I had no idea that I’d have the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world, read applications, travel to exotic destinations recruiting the best and the brightest, participate in selection committee and plan outreach events.
